Short answer: no one, unless you decide otherwise. Myend is built so that your plan — your answers, your directives, your vault, your messages — belongs to you and stays private by default. We do not share your personal information with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of Myend except in the specific cases below.
How your data is protected while you’re planning
Myend is end-to-end encrypted, which means Myend staff cannot read your plan. Vault entries — the accounts, credentials, and documents you store — are encrypted client-side using AES-256, the same standard used to protect financial and government data. Your answers are never used to train AI models, including Justine’s.
Your plan is yours. You can print, export, or delete anything at any time, and if you ever leave Myend, everything goes with you.
With your consent: Legacy Contacts
We’ll share personal information outside of Myend when we have your consent. For example, if you invite a Legacy Contact to use Myend to provide access to your account when you have passed away. This is the core of how Myend’s legacy access works, and it’s designed so that nothing is released early or by accident.
A Legacy Contact only gains access when three things are all true:
- They hold the Access Key you gave them when you set them up.
- They verify their identity by email.
- Your Proof of Life check-ins have lapsed — meaning you set up automated check-ins on a schedule, and when you stop responding, Myend escalates with gentle reminders first, then notifies your Legacy Contacts if there’s still no response.
Until all three conditions are met, a Legacy Contact cannot see or change anything. While you’re alive, they cannot view your plan, edit it, or delete anything in it — being marked as a Legacy Contact gives them no early access at all.
Once access is triggered, what a Legacy Contact can see is limited to what you’ve prepared for them: your finalized directives, your goodbye messages, your contacts list, and any vault items or documents you’ve shared with them. It is not a master key to everything you’ve ever written — it’s access to the plan you built for this exact moment.
For external processing
We provide personal information to our affiliates and other trusted businesses or persons to process it for us, based on our instructions, in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. For example, we use service providers to help us with customer support.
For legal reasons
We will share personal information outside of Myend if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:
- Meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request. We share information about the number and type of requests we receive from governments in our Transparency Report.
- Enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.
- Detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
- Protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Myend, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law.
We may share non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners — like publishers, advertisers, developers, or rights holders. For example, we share information publicly to show trends about the general use of our services. We also allow specific partners to collect information from your browser or device for advertising and measurement purposes using their own cookies or similar technologies.
If Myend is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we’ll continue to ensure the confidentiality of your personal information and give affected users notice before personal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
What this means in practice
While you’re alive and planning, your answers, directives, vault entries, messages, and memories are visible only to you. Justine, Myend’s AI planning companion, can help you complete your plan and answer questions, but she doesn’t share what you tell her with anyone, and your conversations don’t train any AI model. The only people who ever see any part of your plan are the Legacy Contacts you choose, seeing only what you’ve prepared for them, only after your Proof of Life check-ins confirm you’re no longer able to check in yourself.
