People often use the phrase trip down memory lane to express looking back at nice memories. Thinking about beautiful moments can bring up nice feelings of nostalgia or fulfillment. At the same time reflecting back to significant memories that function as milestones, can be great life lessons. What if we told you that such an idea can be part of your end of life plans?
Let’s talk about it!
A trip down memory lane
End of life planning can take a lot of energy and time but at least you can expect to take care of a lot of practical things. What about the more emotional matters like the ones we mentioned above? That’s why we here at Myend have created the Memory Lane service, to help you focus on these issues.
After all, end of life planning should not just be about boring documents. Instead, it should focus on your legacy and emotional needs too. And you can choose the way you want to be remembered by adding posts to your Myend memory lane. Before we discuss this further, there’s another crucial question to consider we need to answer first.
Why do you need your own Memory Lane?
The best way to create a legacy is to be present. We all know that. But it’s easy to forget when we’re busy, or when we feel like our dreams are slipping through our fingers.
In those moments, it’s tempting to look back instead of forward. To remember the good times and forget the bad ones. To reminisce about who we used to be and not think about who we could become. This is why we believe in a trip down memory lane – not just because it reminds us of where we’ve been, but because it makes us realize how much farther we have left to go.
But think about your loved ones too.
Dementia
Dementia is a terrible disease. It’s scary, and it’s fast. You might not have time to create something meaningful before the disease takes hold and steals away your memories—and with them, your ability to make new ones.
But what if you could leave your loved ones with a legacy? What if you could be remembered for more than just the things you did—the places you traveled, the things you built—but also for the stories that made your life special?
We may have a solution: Myend’s memory lane. With this service, you’ll be able to leave behind a legacy for your loved ones and ensure that they never forget about you.
How does Memory Lane work?
It’s a very straightforward feature actually. In short, you can quite literally add milestones. Once you make your profile we automatically add your first Memory Lane entry: your birthday! It’s then up to you to populate your timeline from that moment all the way to some of your final entries before death. Alternatively, you can choose to reverse the way your memory lane is presented.
You make your own posts essentially that are highly customizable. For example, you can add media, life events and even tag people. Let’s have a look.
Photos & Videos
Make your timeline posts feel personal to both you and your loved ones by adding photos and videos. Maybe it’s a family BBQ afternoon. Or a video of your nephew’s first steps. You can upload an existing video or make a new one using the camera of your computer.
Life events & Dates
Instead of a BBQ, maybe you want to post about a life changing event. A graduation or an anniversary day, for instance. Then the life event feature is the best for you. Choose between the following categories: Family, Education, Relationship, House, Work, Travel, Milestones and Remembrance.
If you don’t want to make a big deal out of it, you can add a date to your post instead of calling it a life event.
Tagging People
Don’t just make this about you! Our lives would be so empty without our important relationships! That’s why you can tag people to posts. Just add a loved one as contact and then simply tag them to a post.
Future Plans
This is one of our newest features so we’d love to expand it even further. It’s part of our future plans to make your timeline available to your loved ones, once your date of death is confirmed. This way they can have a full timeline of your life.
But until then, you can still add as many posts as you want to make sure you leave behind a legacy that represents you!
Final Thoughts
It’s important to leave a legacy behind because it can help you achieve your goals and influence others in a positive way.
Your legacy is something that will live on in the minds of others long after you’re gone. It can be used as a reminder of why you did the things you did, or how those actions affected other people. By leaving behind good memories and positive impressions, we can help make sure that the world is better off for having known us.
And we here at Myend believe that no end of life plan is complete unless you’ve thought of your legacy too. That’s exactly what we help you achieve with our Memory Lane feature. Sign up today to create your own end of life plan in clear, simple and fast steps!
